Larry Stein grew up in Los Angeles and currently resides in San Diego, California. His interest in photography began while working part-time for a small newspaper developing film and creating prints for publication, while getting his electrical engineering degree.

Today he works primarily in medium and large format film, as well as digital and a handmade pinhole camera.

"I love the search for images in the natural landscape. Getting up before dawn or shooting after sunset, hoping that the image I've visualized will be possible. Many times it's not, but being outdoors and experiencing the moment is worthwhile on it's own. The search is as much fun as making the print."
